River Dental’s space embodies everything they stand for; an eco-dental facility with a thoughtful nod to their historical location. When Drs. Audet and Simon approached Parallel 45 with their plan of using bamboo toothbrushes, silk floss, and reusable water bottles, we immediately knew that materials in the space had to also reflect these important values.

Their location is adjacent to two waterways, the Rideau River and the UNESCO-designated Rideau Canal, which were incorporated into our design. The waiting area includes a floor to ceiling neighbourhood map with their location clearly marked using a water drop with the waterways flowing to either side. Using eco-conscious LED lighting, we created a custom modern waterfall feature starting on the ceiling and cascading down onto the walls. Other environmentally friendly materials include bio-based polyurethane plank flooring, repurposed quartz from a local manufacturer, and reclaimed wood from area barns.
